Jason Lewis
Funeral Director/Embalmer/Owner
I am a native of Clay, KY; the son of Nancy Beauchamp Lewis and the late David "Stovepipe" Lewis. I began my career in funeral service working for Larry and Carol Vanover at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, KY in 1986 at the the age of 15. I worked there until I graduated from Webster County High School in 1989 at which time I had enlisted in the United States Navy and spent three years on active duty from 1989-1992. I was stationed at the NAS Norfolk, VA, I was an Aviation Electrician, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm Veteran having served in the Persian Gulf on the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 with our squadron VAW-124. When I was discharged from the military I came back to Webster County and went to work at Melton Funeral Home and served my apprenticeship with Rick, Jan , and Lucille Melton. It was at this time the Melton family knew the next generation of the Melton family would not be taking over the family business and the plan was made for me to purchase the funeral home upon Rick's retirement. I graduated from the Mid-America College of Funeral Service in the spring of 1995. I am married to the daughter of the late Homer and JoAnn Bourland, Lynette since 1993, we have two daughters, Abigail, and Sydney, one son, Dreaw Lewis, and one granddaughter, Everly Jo who we think hangs the moon.
