With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Wanda Lea Hill McGaw. A resident of Louisville, KY formerly of Clay, she passed away peacefully on Thursday September 1, 2022.
Mrs. McGaw was born in Clay, Ky on July 19, 1937, the daughter of the late H.L. Hill and Nova Pauline Babb Hill, she was preceded in death her loving husband, Colonel Charles D. "Bud" McGaw, and one sister, Carrie Hill Shelton.
As a military spouse, Mrs. McGaw enjoyed a life of adventure with her husband and children, traveling and living in numerous states, countries, and Army posts. She was an experienced and gracious hostess to many other military wives while serving on several Welcoming Committees. Mrs. McGaw enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. McGaw is survived by her son, Charles David McGaw (Pamela) of Charlottesville, VA; her daughters, Terri McGaw Allen (Jeff), and Donna McGaw Cain (Chuck) all of Louisville, KY; her brother, H.W. Hill (Judy) of Clarksville, TN; she was known as "Nana" by her grandchildren, Andrew Allen (Lauren) and Audrey Allen, Samantha Giannangeli (Don), and Charles David McGaw III, Chase Cain (Haley Valentine) and Eliot Cain and great grandmother to Blair Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday September 7, 2022, in the Lucille Melton Memorial Chapel of Melton Funeral Home with Bro. Kim Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisman Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00AM on Wednesday until the service hour at the funeral home.
Her smile, love and laughter will be dearly missed by her family and friends everywhere. She can now rest in peace in the arms of her beloved husband, Colonel Charles D. "Bud" McGaw.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lisman Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
