Sharon Lee Wilson Padgett, 83, of Henderson, Kentucky (Henderson County) went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ peacefully at 5:31 AM CDT on May 15th, 2024, in the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. Sharon was born on May 31st, 1940, in Providence, Kentucky (Webster County).
Sharon retired from medical transcription (Midwest Ear, Nose and Throat, Evansville, Indiana), after earning her college degree from Madisonville Community College on May 4th, 2000. Prior to her career, Sharon raised her family in Newberry, IN (Greene County), a small farming community and they attended the Newberry Cornerstone Church (formerly UMC) and her home was known for welcoming the neighborhood kids. Sharon always had a formal family dinner for the holidays, and she was known for her home-made yeast rolls and Thanksgiving dressing. She loved cooking, gardening, and homemaking. She was a teacher's aid at Central High School (White River Valley, Switz City, IN) from 1975 to 1983, before moving back to the Providence-Evansville Area. She was the Providence Country Club Secretary for nine (9) years. Sharon was an active member of the Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh, IN working in the Welcome Center and teaching Women's Bible Study.
Sharon was the Matriarch of her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melba Lee Henry (Mike) of Newberry, IN; her mother, Bernice Lee Crooke Wilson of Providence, KY and her father Diskle 'Dick' Davis Wilson of Dixon, KY; her grandfather Arthur Mack 'Papa' Crook, grandmother Donie 'Mamie' Elizabeth Hall Crook, and her aunts and uncles: Dora Louella Crook, Author Marlin Crook, William 'Bill' Crook, Arlie Bradley Crook, Jamey Crook, Ramie Franklin Crook and Robert Hall Crook of Providence, KY.
Sharon is survived by her three living daughters: Jonna L. Langston (Bobby) of Henderson, KY, Penny L. Padgett of New Harmony, IN, and Sara L. Artman (Lance) of Clay, KY; six (6) grandchildren, Matthew L. Henry (Nicole) of Noblesville, IN, Christopher D. Henry (Candace S.O.) of Chrisney, IN, James S. Henry of Odon, IN, Heather L. Resler (Wayne S.O.) of Henderson, Michael J. Langston (Amanda) of Henderson, KY and Jaylee N. Courtney (Nick) of Sturgis, KY; fourteen (14) great-grandchildren: Tristan, Dylan, Landon, Kathleen, Katelin, Shelby, Taylor, Natalie, Damian, Emma, Parker, Malin, Hadlee and Easton; and three (3) great-great grandchildren Londyn, Joaquín, and Dixie Rose.
Funeral Services will be held at the Melton Funeral Home in Providence, Ky at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 17th, 2024, with Bro. Fred Harrison (Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church) officiating. The burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Providence. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 17th, 2024, at the Melton Funeral Home, 206 Cedar Street, Providence, KY 42450.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Providence General Baptist Church, 309 W Main St, Providence, KY, 42450 or the Providence Second Baptist Church, 700 Langley Ave, Providence, KY, 42450.
