James Edward "Shorty"  Kelley,79, of Nebo, KY passed away on Friday October 25, 2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY.

Mr. Kelley was born on October 26, 1944, in Nebo, KY, He was the son of the late Mr. William Carriel Kelley and Mrs. Thelma Mae Smith Kelley.  Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by three brothers, Donnie, Louis, and Wayne Kelley.

Mr. Kelley was a member of Nebo Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 54 years, and a Sunday school teacher, he served on the Nebo Fire Department for 33 years, 20 of those as the squad chief. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Gentry Kelley of Nebo, KY; two sons, Dewayne (Amy) Kelley of Manitou, KY, and Chris (Michelle) Kelley of Providence, KY; three grandsons, Austin, Aidan, and Brady Kelley.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday October 30, 2024, in the chapel at Lewis Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Rhye and Bro. Royce Dukes officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Providence.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 29, 2024, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home and from 10:00AM until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The honorary pallbearer will be Brady Kelley, and those serving as pallbearers will be Austin Kelley, Aidan Kelley, Brian Kelley, Brent Kelley, Tim Kelley, Micah Kelley.
