Jackie D. Barnett, 81, of Henderson, KY formerly of Providence passed away on Monday December 12, 2022, at Henderson Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Barnett was born on October 9, 1941, in Providence, KY, the son of the late Mr. John Bennett Barnett and Mrs. Gwendolyn Brown Barnett. He was preceded in death by his sister.

Mr. Barnett was a member of the Sturgis General Baptist Church; he was a United States Army veteran, retired from Peabody Coal Co. where he worked at both Camp #1 and Camp # 2 mines, he was a patrolman for the city of Providence Police Department for many years, he enjoyed napping and complaining.

Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie of Henderson, KY; one daughter, Deane Scott of Morganfield, KY; and one son Cameron (Holly) Barnett of Shelbyville, KY; two grandchildren, Jaclynn Spainhoward and T.J. Thomas; seven great grandchildren, Jada, Tucker, Carter, Jaxsen, Braxton, Elijah, Sophia.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 15, 2022, at 2:00PM in the Lucille Melton Memorial Chapel at Melton Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Cullen officiating, with burial to follow in the Lakeview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
