Claude Melton, 83,  of Providence, KY passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2025, at the Eddie Ballard Western KY Veterans Center.

Mr. Melton was born on May 20, 1941, in Owensboro, KY, the son of the late, Mr. Charles Gerald Melton and Mrs. Mary Loretta Drury.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Turner.

Mr. Melton is a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Providence, KY; he retired from the KY State Police after 18 years of service, a United States Marine Corp veteran, a 50-year member of the Providence Masonic Lodge #148 F&AM, Dixon Masonic Lodge # 911; a 33rd degree member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner and member of the Rizpah Temple.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherry of Providence, KY; his son, Charles Melton of Madisonville, KY; two daughters, Samantha (Jeff) Kelley of Dixon, KY; Mary (Jamie) Ray of Providence, KY; his grandchildren, Joshua Charles Melton, Jordan (Dara) Kelley, Adleigh Ray, Isabella Melton, Delaney Kelley, Zach Ray, and his great grandchildren, Rian, and Leilanie.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025, at 11:00AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Providence, KY with Father David Kennedy officiating, with burial to follow in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Owensboro, KY.

Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the funeral hour on Saturday January 18, 2025, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Providence.
