Barbara "Faye" Mitchell, 83, of Providence passed away on Saturday January 28, 2023, in Louisville, KY.

She was born on March 02, 1939, in Providence, KY, the daughter of the late Mr. Ben Head and Mary Wiseman Head and raised by Mr. Wick Watson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Mitchell, her sisters, Mae Monroe, Dorothy Galbraith, her brothers, Charles Head, Eugene Head.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Providence, she graduated from Providence High School in the Class of 1957, she loved to read, eat ice cream, shop, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis Gene Mitchell of Providence; three daughters, Genie (Keith) McDowell of Providence;  Dianna (James) Skelton of Gordonsville, TN; and Cindy Mitchell of California; one son, Wayne Mitchell of Providence, KY; her brother, Curtis (Anna) Head of Henderson, KY; her grandchildren, Trent (Amy) McDowell of Providence, KY; Cathy Lee (Josh) Blanford of Henderson, KY; Cindy Barnes of Marion, KY; great grandchildren, Maya Blanford, Mylee McDowell, Allee McDowell, Dawson McDowell, and Katelyn Tabor.

Funeral services will be at 1:00PM on Thursday February 2, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Providence with Bro. Cody Crowell officiating and assisted by Bro. Josh Bumpus with burial to follow in the White Oak Cemetery near Clay.

A visitation will be held in the Lucille Melton Memorial Chapel at Melton Funeral Home on Wednesday February 1, 2023, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and from 11:00AM until the service hour on Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Todd Jones, Steve Head, Tony Simms, John Conrad, Josh Blanford, and Jamie Pryor.
